Highlights of Digital Almaty 2024

This year, the international digital forum revolved around the theme "Industry X: The Digital Evolution of the Future." Over three days, more than 30,000 attendees participated. For the first time, Digital Almaty hosted the SCO Digital Forum. Additionally, the forum featured a plenary session of the EAEU, attended by the Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan. The event also included 47 panel sessions with experts from technological industries, businesses, governmental bodies, and beyond.
On the first day of the Forum, Bagdat Musin, the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, highlighted the current achievements of the electronic government system and outlined plans for its future development.
"Kazakhstan ranks 28th globally in electronic government and 8th in online services. Evidence of this success is the influx of international representatives attending IT forums in our country to learn about our advancements and innovations that enhance interaction between the government, businesses, and citizens," Bagdat Musin said.
At year-end 2023, 50 million services were delivered online, and 92% of government services became accessible from home. In 2024, the Ministry plans to launch a voice AI assistant proficient in Kazakh to assist users on the eGov platform. The Minister also announced the development of the Kaztech platform, designed to accelerate the deployment of digital services and integrate with AI platforms.
By the end of the year, residents and visitors of Almaty can experience the Almaty City App. This service will consolidate the OpenAlmaty akimat’s public reception service, the Situational Center module, and the VisitAlmaty tourist app.
During the SCO Digital Forum, The Minister highlighted several potential areas for technological collaboration among member states, including:
  • Building a fiber-optic communication line along the Russia–Kazakhstan–Iran route, connecting to the Indian Ocean.
  • Developing joint databases and regional startup hubs.
  • Launching collaborative projects such as shared digital platforms and satellite constellations for joint access to space imagery.
During the three days of the Forum, technology companies from various fields set up their stands with presentations and developments. The exhibition zone became a demonstration area for modern robotic equipment for various types of production, unmanned devices and software solutions using AI-technologies for Industry 4.0.
Along with major players such as Freedom Bank, Yandex, KCell, Tele2, young startups Sergek, Target Ai, Awara, Med365, Datanomix, Intellect Service, Documentolog, Robotics Education, Alabs, BTS Digital, Axellero and others presented their projects.
As in previous years, the DAR group of companies participated in the Forum, presenting hybrid educational programs on digital and IT professions from DAR University.
